Created to Need You, Lord
From Psalm 139

There's a void in my spirit - an emptiness in my soul.
Nothing I do can make me fulfilled in my own way.
But you, dear Jesus, have made a way for me
To come to you and say,

"Oh, Lord my God, draw me close to you and hold me there.
Teach me how to love you with all my heart, with all my strength and mind.
Help me to trust you, for my future's in your hands.
Be my all consuming desire, keep my focus centered on you,
Give me a passion, Lord, to know you as you are.

Lord, you have searched me and known me.
You know my downs and my ups.   You understand my thought afar off.
You compass my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all of my ways,
For there is not a word in my tongue, but Lord, you know it altogether.

I am behind and before you, you have laid your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful; it is high, far above my reach.
Where shall I go from your Spirit?   Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I'm in heav'n or hell, you're there; on the wings of the morn or deep,
Even there your hand will lead me and your right hand will hold me.

If I say the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be light about me.
The darkness doesn't hide from you, for the darkness and the light are both alike to you.

I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Marvelous are your wonderful works and that my soul knows right well.
My substance was not hid from you when I was made in secret
And curiously wrought in the lowest part of the earth."
